Fellowships for International Medical Training Programs

Are you a doctor, medical student, or health professional interested in global health education? If so, you may be eligible for one of the many scholarships and courses available to help you pursue your international educational plans. Mass General Brigham Enterprise Emergency Medicine offers tuition-based programs, while the NIH Fogarty International Center provides research training and guidance to NIH fellows. Graduate medical education (GME) programs require a visa that allows clinical training and medical services. Scholarships and courses are available to doctors, medical students, and health professionals interested in global health education.

GME programs are open to both medical students and international medical graduates (IMGs). The primary goal of the program is to prepare IMGs for the licensing process in the United States. ASPPH member schools (master's degree in public health and doctorate level) also offer international training opportunities for recent graduates. The Fogarty Global Health Training Program provides research training opportunities in global health for predoctoral and postdoctoral candidates from the U. S.

This three-semester, one-year academic program is available to IMGs who want extensive practical clinical experience in core and elective subjects. Students or graduates can apply for all internships and core electives. Johns Hopkins University (JHU) has been collaborating in research and training since 1989, with significant achievements in infrastructure development. The IFTAM program is available to IMGs licensed in certain specializations. The Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Ghana is responsible for training doctors, allied health workers, and biomedical scientists for Ghana.

Graduates of the university can obtain ECFMG certification as international medical graduates. Family medicine fellows can find placement centers in the U. S., such as Navajo Nation and Natividad Medical Center in Salinas, California. The University of Ghana Medical School was established in 1962 as a university hospital, providing training for doctors.
